A field study is conducted in a railway station building in a hot and humid zone of southern China in summer.Thermal environmental parameters, personnel activity characteristics, and the votes of thermal sensation, thermal comfort, thermal preference and thermal acceptability in different functional areas are obtained. The thermal comfort differences in different areas are analysed. It is shown that the retention period of personnel in the waiting hall is significantly longer than that in the entrance hall, and the thermal acceptability percentage of personnel in the waiting hall is positively correlated with the retention period. The maximum difference of indoor air temperatures among different functional areas is 5 ℃.The upper limit temperature of 80% thermal acceptability in different functional areas is 3 to 4 ℃ higher than the thermal neutral temperature. It is suggested to consider the thermal adaption differences of personnel in different functional areas and reasonably determine the environmental control plans for various functional areas, which can provide a reference for energy conservation and consumption reduction in station buildings.
